MIRRORS : MOST FAVOURITE SONG OF ALL TIME

"Girl you're my reflection/All I see is you"

               Pada dasarnya saya bukan penggemar jenis-jenis musik tertentu. Saya mendengarkan semua jenis musik, baik itu pop, alternative, rock, RnB, ataupun jazz, selama musik tersebut enak didengar, liriknya tidak cheesy, dan tidak membosankan meskipun ratusan kali diputar. Dan dari sekian banyak lagu yang pernah ada dalam playlist saya, Mirrors, lagu milik Justin Timberlake yang ada dalam album The 20/20 Experience, mungkin adalah salah satu yang akan menjadi lagu favorit saya sepanjang masa.

               Jika lagu-lagu lain pada umumnya berdurasi 3-4 menit maka berbeda dengan Mirrors. Lagu ini berdurasi cukup panjang yaitu sekitar 8 menit. Meskipun cukup panjang, lagu ini tidak pernah terasa membosankan bagi saya. I just can't stop hitting the replay button everytime I listen to this song. Dan menurut saya di situlah letak kehebatan Mirrors. 
               Dua puluh lima detik intro di awal lagu diisi oleh suara piano dan gitar elektrik, dilanjutkan dengan sound dengan bead mid-tempo dan bernuansa urban, sangat khas JT. 
Lirik yang dinyanyikan JT sangat dalam dan romantis. Bercerita tentang seseorang yang telah menemukan belahan jiwa, partner hidup sebagai teman menghabiskan sisa umur.
               Sebagai buktinya, dengarkan ketika JT melantunkan :

“Cause I don’t wanna lose you now / I’m lookin’ right at the other half of me / The vacancy that sat in my heart / Is a space that now you hold”. 

               Pada menit ke-5, lagu ini terdengar seolah akan berakhir, tetapi kemudian muncul encore lirik :

"You are the love my life"

yang meskipun terus diulang dan dijadikan backsound tetapi sama sekali tidak terdengar "mengganggu". Seketika beat lagu ini berubah menjadi lambat di mana JT menampilkan kemampuannya berfalsetto sambil diiringi melodi yang lembut dalam 3 menit berikutnya. 
               Dengan lirik yang puitis, melodi yang indah dan suara falsetto JT yang merdu, rasanya susah untuk tidak jatuh cinta dengan Mirrors. And that, right there, is how you do a love song.
